1 Corinthians 14:15

John 4:23-24

Claire Childs: I've never been happier or more fulfilled.
I thought I'd write about how I came to know God, sorry if I've told you all about it before but it's just too important/exciting to keep to myself.

I am a single mum of several children and soon after my husband left I felt able to fulfill a desire, long held, to move to Wales which was not only where my best friend lived but was also my birthplace.

I know that God led me to Llanelli, on a long journey home to England with three of the children in the back of the car I was trying to decide if, indeed, this move was a good idea. I got tired of shilly shallying around and decided to make up my mind within the next mile on the odometer. At once I felt a wave of positive emotion coupled with the smell and sense of my father who died when I was in my teens. As a non christian I'm not sure what I believed, I just knew that I was going to Wales!

This was the start of a journey that lasted for several years. the move to Llanelli was extraordinarily smooth, all the obstacles melted away and I was given (i can see looking back) all the energy and strength I needed to cope with a monumental move -dry rot, no kitchen, no flooring etc- with four small children and a baby. I couldn't have done it in my own strength.

My lifelong friend and her family are committed Christians and they introduced my children to local church life. She had been praying for me for years and you know what?...God answers prayers!  i began to feel an unsuppressable urge to read the bible, this was very upsetting at first, in my family christian faith was seen as a weakness, only suitable for those unable to make their own way, but the more christians I met the more I realised that they were not the hypocrites and weak people I'd been given to believe. So, I gave up fighting and read the bible starting in the new testament, and an Alpha course later with Elim - thank God for that committed team- I came to God and I've never been happier or more fulfilled.

So that's it, thank you kids, friends and strangers for the prayers that ensured I came to know Jesus. Thanks for standing in the front line for me.
